BLAIR (AP) -- Dana College will add women’s lacrosse, men’s golf and competitive dance to its lists of sports for the 2009-10 school year.
Athletic director Bill Danenhauer says the sports will appeal to students at the private, Lutheran college.
Danenhauer says lacrosse is a growing collegiate sport. Not yet sanctioned a championship sport, the new women’s team will compete in an undetermined association.
Men’s golf returns after it was dropped in the early 1990s, and it’s since become a registered championship sport. Warren Kuhl will coach the split season.
Beginning in fall 2009, competitive dance will be added as a varsity sport. The team will compete in state and national competitions.
Dana is in the Great Plains Athletic Conference and a member of the NAIA.
